Northern Australia

Almost every year for over 35 years Brian has chosen to make lonely 2 to 3 month trips ranging from 11,000 kms to 20.000 kms into the Australian outback, searching for unique material for painting. A great quantity of material in the form of charcoal or pen sketches (highly detailed) or oil sketches on paper plus a series of small oils on canvas is brought back to the studio each trip. Brian lives out of bush camps which serve as a semi permanent base. This is also a time for soul searching and quiet meditation, a time to open up and let the spirit of the country seep in. Much of the work covers time spent in muster camps, the final results of which are large action paintings
